IT-BCA/MCA Admission
Sir plz tell me that can I do MCA from math [H] or I should go for BCA [IP Univ.] available to me now? What is the difference between B. Sci [H] computer science and BCA? Which one of the above courses I should select?

You can easily and conveniently apply for MCA after Maths Honours and need not necessarily go for BCA. You can find out about the differences between the B. Sci [H] Computer Science and BCA courses by reviewing their curricula. You could choose the course that has the slant/focus that you are interested in or pick out the course which is more challenging and offered at a more reputed college.

Dear Sir/Madam, I'm right now pursuing BSc. 3rd year with PCM. I wan't to study MCA after that. I'm getting information about joint entrance examination at different state levels only. Is there any joint entrance examination for admission to MCA held nationally (just like AIEEE for BTech & BE)?...(Shuvagato Sen)

Among the national level MCA entrance tests are the JAM for MCA at IIT Roorkee, NIMCET for MCA at the 9 NITs, all India entrance test for MCA at JNU, for Pune University to name the prominent ones. JECA is for admission to MCA at the institutions offering the programme in the state of West Bengal, MCA CET in Maharashtra for admission to MCA institutions in the state, and so on. The notification of these examinations appear in the prominent dailies, so if you are in touch you won’t miss them. You can still apply for the NIMCET to be conducted by NITs on 20.05.2007 .Download form, information brochure, etc from the websites www.mnnit.ac.in, www.manit.ac.in, www.nitc.ac.in, www.nitdgp.ac.in, www.nitjsr.com, www.nitk.ac.in, www.nitt.edu, www.nitw.ernet.in Examples are indicative.

Respected., Sir. Right now i am doing "O" Level from DOEACC. I have cleared 12th Commerce with 68.86%. As "A" Level is equivalent to PGDCA. I want to know that After completing "A" Level do i qualify for getting admission in MCA or Msc.IT in any University without Bachelor Degree. As i dont think that i will get admission in BCA or Bsc.IT. Its urgent for me to know it. Please Reply me as soon as you can. Help me out?..... (Manoj)

You should identify the university/ institution where you wish to join for MCA or M Sc IT and find out whether they would accept DOEACC ‘A” level. I cannot verify this for you. If you are keen to follow the DOEACC route to training, why not consider DOEACC ‘B’ level to reach the level of MCA.

Sir,i have just appeard for 12th commerce board examinations and i m intrestd in going in computer's field..so, i want sum information on Doeacc course and is it advisable to do..and what are the future prospect..in this course.also, is Bsc.I.T still..in demand..can i opt for Bsc.I.T along with Doeacc and then go for M.C.A...will that be a good combination which can help me further in a bright career ornot? Please guide me with your valuable information as soon as possible?.....(Paulomi Pandya)

DOEACC course details are available on www.doeacc.edu.in. The various levels of training and their employability are outlined on the website. The higher the level of training, the better would be your career prospects provided you have also performed well in the examinations. DOEACC can lead upto MCA level. B Sc IT has certain career prospects, but MCA from a prestigious institution would be the best. You should not try to do so many courses together. Plan for a full time B Sc IT or BCA if you have studied Maths till class 12th and then you may pursue MCA or opt for DOEACC courses.

I am in my 1st year of Bachelor's Degree in Arts. I am very much interested about the Software field. Currently I am doing an BCA course in IGNOU. After completing my BA; can I opt for MCA course from any recognised University?.....(Sibo Nayak)

You can either join on the basis of BCA, but you may need to qualify an entrance test. Any graduate who has studied Maths till class 12th may apply for MCA in the various institutions that fit his/her qualification profile by qualifying the relevant MCA entrance test. Being interested in the software field does not mean that you have the right abilities for it. If you can qualify the entrance test for MCA you would be able to do justice to the demands of the training and be able to get placement in the software industry.

You could complete a correspondence course leading to B A or BBA or B Sc IT/ BCA. Completing courses like BA and BBA may be easier than B Sc IT or BCA courses. After graduation you have the option of applying for MBA and other post graduate professional courses.
